upgrade what

Hello

My system sounds pretty good but can be a little bright, forward sounding and sometimes lacks really good instrument separation. I have decent Morror cables and AudioQuest power cords. Just wondering which component would you be looking at to upgrade? 1) Denon 1700NE CD/SACD Player; 2) Rogue "Dark" Magnum lll Integrated Amp 3) Focal Aria 948 Speakers; 4) Two SVS SV2000 Pro Subs. I was thinking of better speakers. Maybe book shelves since I have the 2 subs. Thanks a lot.

Fully agree with many on this post to upgrade your speakers.  I had listened to their Sopra 3s and couldn’t stand them...they sounded bright, shallow and thin.

My Klipsch Heresy IVs literally blew them our of the water on all grounds.

To each their own, but speakers is where I would start and then go from there.

We are a Focal dealer, your speakers are excellent, when setup correctly they are awesome.

here are our recomendations:

One add isoacoustics footers under all components.

Upgrade your cd player to a unison research cd due player this is a superior sounding player/dac

It has an upgraded ess dac coupled to an all tube output stage it is warm and musical.

Upgrade from the audio quest power cables unless they are tornado or hurricanes the lower cost ones are just okay

Please contact our store for an in depth consultation.

@genomeip "Literally"? I mean, if they were in water then I think I see the problem.

Seriously though, as far as Heresy vs any Sopra model,

"To each their own" indeed...

Yup.  See what I mean.  Dave and Troy have all the upgrades to compensate for a speaker you do not love.  Does this make $$ sense?

I am fully supportive of addressing room acoustics and speaker placement.  If that does not do the trick, you are going down the wrong rabbit hole!

As an owner of Focal 836v speakers I would speculate that you may not love the Focal sound. I have a Pathos Classic One MKiii and even found some gold pin Mullards tubes that made the sound too warm for my liking. I would suggest some tube based components, but it appears that you already have a tube amplifier.

What has been your experience with Focal speakers other than the ones you own?  Do you really love them or are you chasing a ghost with them?
