Wilsons new flagship

Maybe I am getting old but Wilsons new flagship $780k  and they feel it is justified,

lit gets better if you want custom paint $110,000 they said it takes 2 days to paint both speakers, Jays audio lab commented and I think it was way too much and

$110k for $300 in paint is nuts that is truly taking advantage of everyone with wealth, imo only an idiot would pay that. I guess nothing should surprise me any more !!

@cleeds @ghdprentice Many moons ago my dad had our 1955 green and white Chevy station wagon painted all white by Earl.

A good while later I was tasked with washing it.  I sprayed the hose on the car and did not understand what was happening, instead of looking cleaner, it looked like it was getting dirtier.  The spray of the hose was striping the white paint off it.

@jetter

Often you get what you paint for. I bet you if you hosed of the Wilson speakers the paint would not come off.

@inagroove I think you are absolutely right that great gear can be bought for far less than these Wilson speakers-most of us have done that very thing.

Certainly, these speakers are not for me. I just can't think of a single reason why I should care about how Wilson prices its speakers that I'm never going to buy-I wouldn't buy them if they had a half off sale. But I do think Wilson has every right to price its products as it sees fit. There is nothing illegal or immoral or inappropriate in their choice because no one is forced to buy. If someone chooses to pay the price, that also is a personal choice and none of my business. I have a hard time understanding what there is to be upset about.

My physician is running a pair klipsch jubilee (30k and some change) with a accuphase processor (perfect driver time alignment  & tweaked out phase characteristics, mmhm) and some old Levinson amps i sold him.....Pure audio nirvana that ya never ever got on a Chronosonic or Alex V..

Incessant Willie quackery about mechanically moving drivers around as if it was some perk... It is a liability if you let a end user tinker with that. It should be locked in place at the factory and shouldn't even be an option...better start with head in vise before the listening commences

Lamborghini Diablo: 400k

GT-R: 200k

Willie: 780k (more "serious R&D" than the Lamborghini and GT-R apparently)

Please do not insult me with 'cutting edge' technology and 'state-of-the-art' design arguments. Those are sucker-arguments to overcharge the very rich - get over trying to justify this to the average audiophile.

Great gear can be purchased for much more appropriate prices. I am willing to NEVER BUY Wilson speakers to send that message.

If you know him, please inform Darrell. Do not be surprised if he doesn't listen.

It is absolutely not illegal for Wilson to price a pair of speakers for nearing a million dollars. Also it’s not illegal to be disgusted by it and hundred K plus paint job is absolutely Fin ridiculous!
