Looking for good interconnects for narrowly spaced jacks
I just had my old Dual 1229Q professionally restored. The RCA jacks internally are spaced about 3/8" from center of the jack to the other. The smallest RCA jacks I have seen on quality RCA interconnects require jacks spaced about 1/2" apart. Does anyone know of any that are small enough for this application? Not looking for megabuck interconnects, just decent shielded ones. I am not looking to change out the RCA jacks on the Dual. Thanks!

Since this is for a turntable, if you are running moving coil cartridge, you’ll want low capacity phono cables. Would Kimber TAK CU work? https://kimber.com/products/TAK-CU call kimber kable and ask what size are these |
@bondmanp I should have clarified that I focused purely on plugs that will fit. I am assuming that you would verify plug fitment first, and then obtain suitable bulk cable and finish the cables yourself. As for finished RCA cables using the narrow-barreled Switchcraft plugs I specified, they're out there, but several finished sets I've seen in a casual search use cable better suited for line level interconnects rather than phono use. For that, you would want a very low capacitance cable intended for this purpose (as @audphile1 mentioned), and there are multiple options. |
@audphile1 I am running only high output cartridges. @ted_b Thanks again. I am not a DIY guy, but I could have cables made for me. @dtorc Funny you should mention Pine Tree. I asked him before my post. He didn't have anything narrower than 1/2", but I will ask if he can use the Switchcraft plugs on one end of his phono interconnects.
@robert53 I have a few pairs of Monster Cable from around 2002, but the plug barrels look much thicker than what I need. |
