Advice on upgrading from Sony WH1000XM3 to new headphones, DAC, amp.

I'm currently using my Sony headphones for music and video. I have a high-quality analog rig but can't use it in my current living situation.

My source will be FLAC files from my Windows 10 PC. I plan to use digital output to a DAC and preamp/amp. I'm also planning to upgrade my headphones. I want to keep the whole system (DAC, Amp, headphones) under $1,000, and I'm happy to buy used gear.

My analog rig has only a TT source and was designed to be as neutral/realistic as possible. I'm looking for the same when using headphones. Lastly, I don't need noise-canceling headphones.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Get this DAC/Amp with the most elite Parametric EQ system and more than enough voltage swing for 99.9% of headphones - https://www.qudelix.com/products/copy-of-qudelix-t71-usb-dac

Get this open back. on sale and it is already great at its MSRP so it is a no brainer at the new price - Sennheiser HD550

Total will be $777 @vinylmania

I have enjoyed my Meze Audio headphones.  They cost about $200 when I purchased them a few years ago.  They are detailed without being overly analytical and fit comfortably.

I use the headphone jack on my Oppo 103 which seems adequate to drive the phones

If neutral/realistic with excellent imaging and an expansive soundstage is what you’re looking for I’d highly recommend Hifiman headphones.  I own the Arya Stealths and recommend them highly, but the Ananda Nano/Unveiled may work fine although if possible I’d stretch to the Arya Organics.  This used Aune S9c amp/DAC should pair very well with Hifiman ‘phones and is a no brainer at this price IMO.  Hope this helps, and best of luck.
