I recently bought a SLQ2. I removed the captive interconnect and installed RCA panel jacks. I did leave the OEM ground wire intact and am using it for the ground. It is soldered to a small panel and could easily become disconnected or loose. You might want to check it out. Not too difficult to get to. |
@motown-l I also replaced my hardwired rca cables and put in rca jacks on the table and upgraded rca cables. At the same time updated the ground wire, but as mentioned above there is no hum when ground is disconnected. |
That is a bit of a mystery, to me. I'm no electronic engineer or tech so I have no theoretical understanding. My experience, with magnetic cartidges is no ground connection, guaranteed 60hz. hum. Could it be that what you're using as a preamp is contributing to this phenonium? I'm using an external preamp which is my ground source for the TT. I also have ancient two wire circuitry so I am always shocked that I don't have grounding issues. |
