After several moves, during which my records and CD's traveled in boxes, I ended up in a place with a perfect stereo room. I then started sequentially totally redoing my entire system into a nice little Nirvanaland. Then, having to decide what to do with 40 book-and-record boxes of recorded material, built a big bookcase in a spare bedroom with maybe capacity for a quarter of this stuff. My garage still holds a ton of it, going through which is a mountainous task. I keep thinking: no way on earth can I listen to over a fraction of this! So have been paring things, to say the least. Adding a streamer to this would be crazy, in my opinion, unless I was forced into some little retirement venue and could just compact the whole thing. I don't much want to think about that! As for the OP's setup, man, you just do what you wanna do! Each person has to make up his/her mind about matters like this. I figure that if time is limited and you can swing it, get what you always wanted. Time itself will take care of the rest, so don't stress yourself out!
When to give up CDs and TT?
I purchased a Bricasti M21 DAC some time ago. Now I'm thinking about selling my SACD player (Marantz SA7 S1), Turntable (VPI Classic 3) and media (CDs and records) because I hardly use them. It would free up a lot of space in my stereo room. Any thoughts or experience with this?
My system is a Spectral DMC-30SV preamp, DMA-500 monoblocs, MIT Oracle cables and EgglestonWorks Rosa speakers. The phono amp is a Sutherland Engineering PhonoBlock.
Streaming is by Qobuz using Audirvana on my SG20 smartphone. The internet cable runs into the M21 for most listening or I use an IFI ZEN for DSD256. My downloaded music is saved on my laptop. I use the iFi SilentPower LAN iPurifier Pro and IFI Power Elite Power Supplies to reduce noise going into the system.

@lanx0003 your are 💯. I only stream but fortune to own an incredible Innuos Pulsar and Accuphase DC-1000 DAC. A few of my audiophile friends who own vinyl and CDs have almost entirely given up on them after they themselves also purchased highend streamers and DACS. |
