Items from audiophile's estate, list and photos link provided; helpful advice appreciated!

Hello,

I'm tasked with selling audio equipment from the estate of a late friend. I'm hoping to sell it all as a lot, but may have to list the best of the items individually. For pricing, I tried to find similar items at "SOLD" prices. I then reduced my price by 50% since I haven't tested any of the equipment. I want to be very fair, but the goal, of course, is to help with my friend's final expenses. I'd appreciate any constructive comments; thank you!

Thanks and good luck. In my view, it would be most effective to simply list descriptions in text of the items and prices if you can. The idea of going to a google drive and opening a pdf of a stranger is not something I want to do. But maybe that's just me.

Hello emergingsoul,

There is a link at the bottom of each of the for lists that will take you to some snapshots.

If I were a lot younger, I might've bought some of the pieces myself and put together a system. But it's a bit late for me now. I have a home recording studio, but little of the equipment listed would be useful there.

My friend accumulated the gear over many years, and some of he got for free when he was an audio reviewer for a few magazines. I don't know the history of any of the pieces.

As you suggest, I'll probably have to try another route to sell the equipment. And about the equipment not being tested...I know it would be better otherwise. The task of selling it just happened, and I'm just trying to do the best I can to help pay my friend's final expenses.

Hello parkergetdean,

Thanks for suggesting some sources that might be helpful, and your thoughts on the value of the gear.

Hello hilde45,

I understand your hesitation about opening a link. Very wise, actually! If the entire lot doesn't sell by the end of next week, I'll probably try to sell them as individual pieces. Thanks again for your reply. Have a nice week.

I think google drives and pdfs are safe.

It would probably make sense to put the most valuable ones in one document

Yes Sir, parkergetdean, the link I posted is safe, but I do understand that some might hesitate. List #1 has the items of highest value according to my price searches. List #2 has equipment of lesser value and so on. It looks like next week I'll be listing items with prices individually on some platform, maybe eBay.

@foxwaves also consider interest already voiced here since we know the context. The fees are a little higher here, unfortunately. Direct links to your listings on this thread may be beneficial.

US Audio Mart would also be encouraged before eBay. For the smaller or less valued items, Facebook Marketplace or even Craigslist may be good options - I’ve had a lot of success lately on Craigslist for whatever reason.

This next piece may be controversial, but if I were in your situation and were selling low, I would consider accepting only PayPal Friends and Family - this reduces your liability as a seller and takes PayPal out of the equation if a dispute occurs. You’d be selling items as-is with no returns while also being transparent that you have not tested the equipment. Because of those reasons, you are selling low while also ensuring that the buyer understands the risks when making an informed decision.

And I know you know, but if selling in-person always take a partner or use a public space.
