Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Earth Day, turn those amps OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've said it before, I'll say it again, it is Environmentally IRRESPONSIBLE to leave your equipment on for long periods of time, before or after, or truly despicable, ON all the time!

On, 20 mins, listen, done, off!

Doctors, Lawyers, Trust Fund Kiddos, come on now.

Where were you in 1970?, I was there in Manhattan (went to college at Pratt in Brooklyn 1966-1970)

From the same font of specious logic one might ask: Why don't people turn off their fridge after they're done making dinner?

In related news, the British, never in the caboose when it comes to aberrant engineering, have brought to the world the always-on gas range, or, as they are wont to say, hob. Yes, its oven(s) are on 24/7, presumably so that if one were compelled to boil mutton straightaway, one could.

The first Electric Fridge and Electronic design Audio device were produced at very similar era, with the Fridge being a well-established mainstream product by the rhe the audio device was first marketed.

The Fridge, and the later available Freezer, that came to the market later than both the fridge and audio devices, are both designs that are with their design intent to be continuously on, as this is the design that keeps the stored food stuff for an extended period to not perish.

Even the fridges are known to have caused a fire in a domestic environment. The initial cause of the fire in the link is a Fridge /Freezer catch fire.

Fridges and Freezers are approx'100 years in progressive design to be permanently on 24/7 and not catch fire, but guess what; they do!!

Audio devices are not with 100 years of progressive design to be kept with power on as a 24/7 appliance is!!!!

The only other permanent power-on appliance I can think of in my home is an electrical supply to a water boiler/home heater, where this type of design is currently near 140 years of being a progressive design to prove the fit for purpose of the supplied products, which are scrutinised by regulators and industry bodies before making their final stop in the market.

Does an audio-related device receive the same attention???

Power Off is the simplest of safeguards, where audio devices are the subject.

@pindac I initially said:

For your safety, never turn your [audio] gear on.

And you said:

Power Off is the simplest of safeguards, where audio devices are the subject.

It seems we do agree! 😃

It's not about agree/ disagree; it's about assisting with showing others how a forum can influence decision-making that has the potential to substantially alter one's life experience, in a way that would not be wished on anybody.

Power Off - Sleep Well in Your Bed.

I haven’t read but the first couple and last page of responses, and I certainly don’t have full knowledge of the OP’s overall habits as concerns environmental concerns.  But, and jus’ sayin’, my experience has been that, almost without exception, I have found that I can always find ways to express my concerns about the environment that elude even the most “environment conscious”.  Like I always tell my kids, it’s all about balance.
