@bill_k thanks. I wasn't aware. The 7G had good reviews generally, and snagging a pair of 500 7G for ~2500 seems like a very good deal. I heard they have a slightly recessed midrange, (Monitor Audio's "house sound"), but they might respond well to a little EQ.

I have the Silver500 6gs and I really like them. They have a 5” midrange and the 7gs have a 3” midrange. I wonder what size midrange the 8gs will have? I like the 5” midrange because it gives more body and weight to tom toms giving them a more realistic sound. The 7gs were supposed to be more transparent but the midrange was slightly recessed. I’m using Cardas Clear Cygnus cables which match very well with my speakers and give them a very balanced sound. |
@robert53 interesting. I like the idea of a 5" midrange. Maybe the 8g will have that. |
