VPI “the Harry”

Does anyone have experience with the VPI Harry tt and how it may compare to the Classic or Prime series. Thanks for any insight,

johnto

VPI seems to be going the Pro-Ject route, offering a dizzying number of turntables (in fairness, Pro-Ject has taken this to the extreme).  Admittedly it's been a long while, but the last time I took a serious look at the VPI lineup it consisted of the HW-19, Aries, and TNT, with a couple of JRs thrown in for good measure.  I count 15 tonearms in their lineup now too.  It looks like Matt Weisfeld has taken the company in a very different direction.

Regarding VPI's Customer Service, I have nothing but accolades.

I have a modified HW 19 MK IV that has been waiting for a Super Platter forever. I finally found one but was concerned about the bearing status. I called the company and spoke to the receptionist. Within an hour, Harry Weisfeld called me back. We chatted probably for 15 minutes and I shared my concerns. He told me to ship it out and he would take a look at it. He did, cleaned it up a bit, and shipped it out to me next day UPS. Charged me 50 bucks for his time and 25 bucks for shipping. I have to say it doesn't get any better than that!

I don’t have experience with ‘The Harry’ but I’ve got a Prime 21.

I love it.

I started with a VPI Nomad & then jumped to the Prime 21.

Harry said he’s got that table at his house using it & it sounds great.

I don’t see the correlation to Project at all. Project has the Pink Floyd triangle shaped table, the Scorpions scream image table, the AC/DC lightning bolt table, & the Beatles yellow submarine table.

VPIs current line ranges from entry level to very high end. Their entry level is a little higher than some others but IMO you get what you pay for. My Nomad sounded excellent, with a Soundsmith Zephyr cart.

VPIs tables are made us the US. I’m glad to support a company that keeps our money in our country.

My customer service experiences have been excellent. I’ve also seen on the FB page that they go beyond in helping out other owners.

I talked to a guy who bought a MOFI Fender table. He bought my VPI Soundsmith Zephyr cart & loves it. He said he is going to sell the Fender table & get a VPI.
