Sonus faber - Amati suprema?

Anybody heard this very expensive speaker? Is it that much better than the Amati G5?

Sonus Faber are better looking than their performance. That doesn’t mean they suck sonically but aesthetically speaking they are in a different league than their Sonics. Sonically they draw you in at first but overtime like McIntosh you are always looking for more. More of a mid-fi brand than a serious ultra high end contender.

my Supremes arrived, serial number 34 in red wood. they look and sound amazing. worth $35k more than my G5’s ? ehh.. lol. "depends". tad more midrange and highs for sure, which is kind of what i’d hoped for as the G5 is a soft, warm sound. No where near as bright as the B&W speakers i’d listened to before choosing the G5’s for similar price, and the soundstage seems a bit wider, with a little more imaging than my former G5's. overall? impressed. Happy with them for sure.

some photos.. can’t post photos on this forum but link to SF facebook page where i posted some

@melk-man

Super cool you have these .  Can't yet access on Facebook although tried subscribing to the Sonos forum so we'll see what happens. Interested to know how your hooking these up. Where did you purchase them from?

I need to listen to them to understand how all those crossover design differences between the G5 and supreme sound. Basically my impression is that there is more detail which is good but retain a lot of warmth from the G5 which is also good. Also interested to understand how they Tweeter drivers sound.

@emergingsoul  hooked up to c12000 mac pre amp and a pair of 1.25kw mono block ss amps. the pre is set to the tubes. I purchased them from AV Specialists inc in Palm Harbor FL. Took couple weeks to get them here but they are a newer set serial # 34.
I loved the G5's but the Supreme have more "detail", still warm SF sound, but everything sounds more "live" and natural. I've been playing lots of songs i've heard multiple times over the past 2 years with the G5's, and the soundstage is wider, better imaging by a bit for sure. The SF "warmth" is still there, as was missing from the B&W speakers i heard at the AV store that were similar in price to the G5's they had that i could audition.. glad i went SF. Are the Supremes worth $35k+ more than the G5's? ehh. I'm happy to have them, no regrets, but don't think i would open the wallet that far if i didn't have the top-end pre amp and nice amps.
