These are from IKEA, very sturdy and (considering) reasonably priced. Each cube can hold 75 LPs. There’s 5 cubes per unit, they have various sizes.

Vinyl Storage Options
I have a large vinyl collection that I would like to store in my dedicated music room. I have around 700-1000 albums that I would like to store one level high. Looking at some custom options that are running around $5,000 - $7,000.
Looking for others experiences in this regard.
Thanks.
I had a solid-wood media cabinet custom built for ~$800, IIRC, several years ago. I designed it with custom-sized drawers for CDs, cassettes, etc. and two shelves for LPs at the top. There is also a lip at the front of the shelves so the LPs won't slide out in the most severe of earthquakes. It's really great having the LPs on top, so I can easily read the spines. I think I have a photo of the cabinet in my Virtual System. I would suggest you consider looking at any local cabinet manufacturers and see what they can do for you, and I highly recommend getting your LPs at eye level. |
+1 IKEA may have some economical options, but generally we each have unique solutions. I’ve seen some custom options, but usually you have to do deep research.
Great tip I have 2000+ to store and I want doors to reduce cluttered look so I’m targeting 2 of this |
DIY is way cheaper - I got lucky and a friend gave me a huge hunk of red oak - most of it went to the mantle. The rest I got cut into 3 x 9" x 97". As you know, vinyl is heavy, so I put in vertical supports about every 15" or so. I needed some more shelves, so just got cheap 3/4" pine board from Lowes. Same basic design and supports. Been in place about 7 years now and no sagging - so far :-) Oh yeah, screws only, no nails. |
