Do you buy new, used or new or used gear?

I know some folks that will only buy new gear, and others that will only buy used gear, and of course, those that will sometimes buy new and sometimes buy used gear. Where are you on this spectrum? 

Personally, about 1/2 my main system consists of gear that was bought used (or store demo), and none was the worse for it.

Speakers- demo, second hand

Sources - second hand 

Tonearms- second hand and new+dealer(given) discount (to get Kondo silver wire in 4point to avoid mental torment)

Cables - second hand and new+dealer discount

Yep, about 50/50 on my side.

Used pre amp.  New amp.  Used table and arm.  New cartridges.  New speakers and subs.  New phono stage and equalizer.  All cables and interconnects new.

All used for me and very rarely had

an issue with anything the past 30 years or so.

The only exception was my most recent purchase of

the SOTA Eclipse package for my turntable. Had to buy that

new.
