Given the extent of the influence Blues has had on Rock and on Clapton's playing, I tend to agree. Of course, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker brought different stylistic influences to bear, which, as you point out, yielded compositions that stray pretty far from the Blues.
What blues are you listening to today?
Blues is by far my favorite and most listened to genre. I don't know how many of us are in here, but I thought a continuing thread of this kind might be of interest.
I'm listening to Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea. Buddy's covers of Junior Kimbrough, T-Model Ford, CeDell Davis and the like are awesome. Jimbo Mathus sitting in on rhythm guitar doesn't hurt!
