Does the Devore Fidelity Orangutan 0/96 speaker play rich and full bodied at 50 Decibels

I think you need a 3 way design, so you can control (cut back) the midrange level, any 2 way lacks a separate midrange, thus lacks that control..

btw, one advantage of cutting the mids is that if you have subs, or add subs, they will retain your pre-set balance.

higher volumes, just return the midrange level control to normal.

close to corner or rear wall can also give you increased bass, but that will be at all volumes.

A front port might also help with the bass at low volumes.

The JBL L100 Classic will not sound good at low volume.  I own a pair and they don't "wake up" until you get some volume behind them.  The bass is quite anemic considering it is a 12-inch woofer, I had to add a SVS SB2000 12 inch sub for adequate bass.  This is not the JBL speakers I owned back in the early 70's, much leaner but more refined, furthermore the new titanium tweeter really blows.
