Mighty Sam McClain. I'm so lonely and Don't you worry about me.
What blues are you listening to today?
Blues is by far my favorite and most listened to genre. I don't know how many of us are in here, but I thought a continuing thread of this kind might be of interest.
I'm listening to Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea. Buddy's covers of Junior Kimbrough, T-Model Ford, CeDell Davis and the like are awesome. Jimbo Mathus sitting in on rhythm guitar doesn't hurt!
So what blues are on your system today?

I still enjoy Taj Mahal’s early recordings with Jesse Ed Davis on guitar and the somewhat later, live "The Real Thing". Ronnie Earl is one of my very favorite players. Such beautiful phrasing coupled with intense emotion. Check out Blues Virtuoso Live in Europe and the YouTube videos from that tour. A taste of the latter; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNqksJrRZBk&list=RDMNqksJrRZBk&start_radio=1 He starts out quite laid back. The fireworks start around the 10 minute mark. |
Great timing. I just scored a copy of the original Polydor pressing of Wheels of Fire. You might argue that Cream is not authentic "blues," but I think it's close enough for purposes of this forum. (Having said that, my favorite tracks on the album are those that owe the least to traditional blues conventions: "As You Said," etc. |
