Best concert you've attended

Mine is The Doobie Brothers, at the Civic Center in Amarillo Texas, in 1976. I was 16 years old.

The weed smoked all around us was good  too.

So many great ones!!!

I have very few regrets in my life but definitely regret not seeing as many rock concerts as I could have in the 70’s in the NYC area which was basically the  greatest bands all time.

Heres a few that come to mind from then & also later:

Dave Mason at Radio City Music Hall in 1974.

Cat Stevens at Madison Square Garden in 1975.

Jethro Tull at the Nassau Coliseum in 1975.

Doc Watson at the Night Stage in Cambridge, MA in later 80’s. Had the first table next to the stage in a small night club- awesome!

Boston Symphony Orchestra in Symphony Hall playing Beethoven’s 9th w/ a full choir just a few weeks ago. Truly amazing!

Many, many others like everyone here.

It’s shame that many of the shows I attended in the past 10 or so years utilize DSP & amplified line arrays that sound so hard & annoying & lose so much of the subtle magic that fine musical artists have & share.. The incredible tone & body that a great electric guitar / amp can have is often all but lost now.

1978?  Willie Nelson 4th of July Concert ( on the 1st) at Arrowhead stadium KCMO

Willie, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jessie Colter, countyr rock ban Missouri and the Grateful Dead.  What a mix of people

March 10,  1979 Grinnell College, Police on their Outlandos d'Amour tour

Willie Nelson, circa 1980.  It was his "Willie Nelson and Family Live" tour (my favorite live album) at the Wheeling Civic Center in Wheeling, West Virginia.  We had OK seats, but for the encore, I weasled my way up front and had my chest pressed up against the stage (I don't remember any security).  Between two songs, Willie was shaking people's hands, and when he came to me, I shook his hand and asked if I could have his headband.  Willie took it off his head and graciously placed the bandana in my hand!  Shortly thereafter, during one of his songs, someone handed him a pint of whiskey.  He took a swig and then walked over and handed it to me for a swig!  I then handed it back to him.  Crazy!  I was 20 years old.  I've loved him and his music ever since.

And that live album is magnificent.  His interpretations of the songs and placement/order of each are brilliant!  At the time, I didn't know what a "concept album was, but it's a great one!

@wharfy

you are right, there was no need to react this way, I got really worked up from a personal attack in another post.

I haven't been to many concerts. The greatest one I can remember was one that I could only hear and not see, I couldn't afford a ticket, and got arrested trying to sneak in - the Queen, 1987

Although I’ve seen them 5 times, the last time I saw them at MSG in 2016 was their best!
