For enthusiast's of Aric Audio: New Jackpot Line-stage review on Stereo Times

The review on the new just released Aric Audio Jackpot Line-stage has just been posted on the Stereo Times website. It will give all the details of way I made the Jackpot a recommended product of the year for 2025, and purchased it for my system.

The Jackpot is another product that proves that Aric is one of the finest builders and designers of top notch tube gear sold at very reasonable price points on the market today. He also gives great customer support, which explains his loyal following.

Hey Slaw,

I have respect for Herron gear. I believe that he is no longer in business. I can't tell you how the Herron 360 compares to the Jackpot, because I have never had this line-stage in my system. If I have my facts straight the Herron 360 Reference uses 6922 tubes which are not my favorite regarding tonality and color. I have some of the most highly regarded NOS 6922 and they sit in their boxes in my collection because of what they lack in how they present music.

@slaw - I've got both the Herron 360 Ref an Aric Audio Super 6SN7. I enjoyed that Herron a LOT over the course of the 5 years I used it and it gave me no trouble, but I was finally so annoyed by the smallest preamp remote I've ever seen or heard of (you can't use a universal remote because of how Keith Herron has that set up) that I decided to look around at some others and found that Aric on USAM used for a good price.

For me, in my room with my gear, I preferred Aric's preamp; I even tried an LTA MicroZOTL Level 3, which I preferred to the Herron, but I liked Aric's even better and sold the LTA. All 3 are excellent preamps, though. I've also had some great email conversations with Aric - very cool guy!! yes

Yes, the Herron uses 6922 tubes. I’ve never tube-rolled. Never felt a need to. It’s not balanced. It has provided trouble free joy.

Hi Terry - jumping in with an unrelated post, but had to ask you a question about a possible review. I posted this under your equipment profile.

Really enjoy reading your reviews of equipment from small boutique audio companies. As a result, I recently received my order for Aric Audio Super KT88/120 SE and Motherload II. I also purchased a component selector from Pine Tree Audio to share components between the Aric Audio and my second system Adcom GFA555/GFP555.

Now I'm looking into a horn speaker from Shinjitsu Audio - Hiro X2pro.  I saw your 2020 review of their Carbon Daisho speaker and was wondering if you have plans to review their Hiro speaker.  Not many reviews on Shinjitsu speakers, but they look like they use premium components.

So hoping the Hiro might interest you in a review!

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Mark

Hey Mark,

Thanks for your kind words towards my reviews. I did enjoy reviewing/listening to the Shinjitsu Audio's speaker a few years back. However, I have no plans to review their new speaker in the near future.
