Bill has it right ^^^^^^^^ tested to higher standards and a paper trail to match - I delivered billion dollar products to the usg… of course your opinion is yours….
NOS tubes
I have a Rogue RP-1. The previous owner sent a set of NOS(?) tubes with the stock tubes. The boxes these tubes came in are labeled like this:
JAN 12AU7
AF 30(635)4462
Date Packed FEB 1959
Philco Corp. Phila., Penna
What does all that mean (I think the JAN stands for Joint Army Navy, but what does that mean)
Are these installing and trying?
Thanks Ron G.

Probably US Government
As to tubes in RP1…best sound I had was with Brimar CV4003 from upscale audio Second best with Gold Lions. Didn’t like JAN, RCA Cleartop, Tungsram. Stock JJs are quiet and reliable but don’t sound as good as Brimar or GL.

I don’t like licorice and avoid all food that contains even a hint of it. |
@audphile1 😆 . I don’t like it either , but I like the song by Grand Funk. Also thanks for the GL opinion, I’ve got to try some. @lewm , I feel you dog, but it’s a 12AU7 thread, kinda like eating liver ? I think the 8 pin tubes have it over the 9 pin tubes all day long. Cheers my Peers , Mike B. |
