I’m very pleased to report that I’ve picked up my new Accuphase DC-1000 DAC, and it is exceptional. The drive to Montreal was about 6.5 hours each way, but it was absolutely worthwhile. The scenery was outstanding and the French Canadians were genuinely warm and welcoming.
My previous Accuphase DC-37 was an excellent DAC but the DC-1000 is definitely a step forward. Everything the DC-37 does well, the DC-1000 does with greater refinement and ease. It feels as though a veil has been lifted, revealing greater clarity, separation, and natural detail—notes emerge more freely and with less obscuration.
Overall, it’s a remarkable upgrade and an outstanding piece of engineering and I couldn’t be happier.
I should point out that I've always loved my Klipsch LaScala AL5 speakers but now it's like I'm hearing an improved version of this speaker. These big boxes have literally disappeared in my room and the music is so beautiful. This DAC is unreal so don't let anyone tell you that DACs and streamers are all the same. This thing is magical.
