More on hearing aides

I've been wearing hearing aides for 7-8 years. My health insurance covers a brand through a local retailer. They run with insurance $1700 a pair, for the rechargeable ones and also the top model they offer. My last pair are 4 years old so I made an appointment to get my hearing tested. I had a conversation with the audiologist about my audiophile hobby and that these were ok but is there something better? She recommended Starkey Omni  24. Their top of the line aides, she has access to them at a reduced price if I wanted to try them. Full MSRP is $7500 but I could get them for $4500. This would be $2800 more than what I get get for the new but lesser grade brand I had before. She offered a trial so I took her up on it and had them over this weekend. Well, you get what you pay for, these are fantastic. Not only is my general hearing far better, it comes with less of the usual unnaturalness that I have grown accustomed to. The Starkey has a MUSIC program that is free of most of the automatic adjustments for normal hearing, does not have dynamic restrictions, etc. and the things like that. They  also have a 3 band equalizer if you like to customize and save it as a program beyond the Music program. For music they are soooo much better! The top end details are so much more natural. This immediately struck me. I had no idea my music was compressed until I tried these, some times the dynamics are startlingly real! WOW! Midrange textures and tonality are better. Voices are more realistic, I never knew they were "off" a bit until now. Also a real bonus is that my volume setting can be lower yet still sound better than before with the old hearing aides. I think I had to turn it up to get the desired information before. Now it is so much more present and transparent that it is just not necessary. So if you are in need for hearing aides then I suggest if you can afford them the Starkey are something to look into. I plan to purchase a new set for me today. You don't know what you don't know until you know. I hope this helps. Also the other recommended brands that have been suggested in these forums are out of my price range, this was a lot more than I wanted to spend but I got $3000 off for SOTA hearing aides. Good luck!

That's great, and you should look into replacements about every 4 years (I need to do that myself in a couple of years). Those Starkeys look interesting as they're incorporating AI tech in them. But pretty much every hearing aid brand has models with music programs and a 3-band EQ. My Jabras I got at Costco have that.

Do you mean Starkey Omega 24? I couldn't find anything on Omni.

If you don't mine saying, what brand were your prior hearing aids?
