Yes. It's said "tone is in the hands" and it seems, the better the player, the truer this is. Supposedly J. McLaughlin played a Duo Sonic or Mustang with T. Williams Lifetime. 

Well I will have to go with All Along the Watchtower as one of my favorites of Dave’s even though it was a cover! It’s a ripping, in your face version that just doesn’t quit till the end! Always been on my playlist!
