I’m in the Midwest where my heat and air conditioning have been used in the same day!
For the last few years, I’ve been listening to more and more Hard Bop Jazz and less and less rock. I’ve been really enjoying the stereo recordings from fifties and sixties. Some of these recordings have fabulous separation and depth.
You can’t go wrong with Patricia Barber.
What an awesome listen, for those who care.
It is beautiful here in Central Florida, so everyone has their windows open, meaning no a/c power surges. Just wonderful for my system. I played some Billy Idol stuff, because in my better/earlier days, I would karaoke to him. I like him and his bandmates. Enjoyed the listen. But THEN, I played Nardia (most here should know, it has been a reference track, for years). I had it turned up to my favorite listening level, and I was floored, literally. My systems presentation took me to a time when I visited some small jazz clubs in NYC, and I was in heaven. So, as I constantly say here, it is only about the musicianship and the composition, well today, I felt proud to be an audiophile. SOUNDED GREAT!!!

A lovely sunny Autumn day here in Christchurch, New Zealand. Thanks for the listening recommendations. Now that I have settled it my new second-hand Perreaux eloquence 250i amp, I am enjoying listening to old music for the first time again. I was listening to Robert Cray’s Shane + Sin last night and found his studio and mixing work just lovely. Simple, clean and, having seen him play live a few times, it was like being in the studio. His guitar playing, song writing and arranging and singing works for me. Midnight Stroll is another good one to crank up for the neighbours! |
@mkk57, thank you! |
@mrdecibel hi... I too live in central Florida on the west coast area and yes... The weather has been terrific lately. Are you a member of the SunCoast Audiophile Society ? Even though I've been an audiophile for nearly 5 decades, I had never heard of Narnia by Hideyuki Hashimoto. I will fire it up on QoBuz later this AM and listen. Thanks for the recommendation ! |
