Sonus faber - Amati suprema?

Anybody heard this very expensive speaker? Is it that much better than the Amati G5?

A typo in my title which this forum doesn’t allow you to edit. It’s the supreme, not the suprema which is the really really really expensive speaker. I have no idea why sf did this so similar I will never get them straight. I hope I don’t order one by mistake instead of the other and have a really really massive bill to deal with

A friend of mine did. He was skeptical that it would sound that much better, but he said it sounded amazing and felt it was probably worth the price. He has extensive experience with high end speakers... Cora, Lillium, B&W, Wilson... etc.

I’m really torn by your question. I really love my G5’s and don’t really want to have getting the Supreme niggeling me in the back of my head. I already have the question of what kind of differences are there between the Lilium, the Supreme and the I’ll Cremonese and the EX3ME.
When I finally got a SF dealer in my area,  they only had the G5 to listen to and while the sales person tried several times to sell me the Lilium, I wasn’t going to agree to buy before I could try, and they seemed pretty cold on getting a $75K demo.

The Lillian's are wonderful. If I could afford a pair I would buy them. It is unfortunate your dealer would not get a pair for you to try. I am sure you would not return them.

I heard the Amati Supreme at Axpona this year. While it sounded very good, it would be unfair for me to comment on how much better it is than the G5. It would be interesting to hear them side by side. However, the crossover is upgraded as is the tweeter/midrange unit which came from the Suprema so I’ve no doubt it is better.

@curiousjim I have the Il Cremonese. The Lillium’s are fantastic but I know several dealers who prefer the Il Cremonese. The same dealers also suggested the Ex3me vs of the Il Cremonese is a step back because it uses a metal dome tweeter which is brighter. More revealing yes, but necessarily better for most. I haven’t heard that version myself.

Of course, the Aida’s would be wonderful but I personally lack the room and the budget for those. Of the ones you mention, I would think the two to consider would be the Amati Supreme and the standard Il Cremonese. The Il Cremonese will likely pressurize a larger room better.

If you could make a trip to the Chicago area (Quintessance) or Scottsdale (LMC), you’d likely be able to hear any of the models you’re interested in. I’m sure there are others. Perhaps some travel would be a worthwhile investment at this level.

Best,
