What an awesome listen, for those who care.

It is beautiful here in Central Florida, so everyone has their windows open, meaning no a/c power surges. Just wonderful for my system. I played some Billy Idol stuff, because in my better/earlier days, I would karaoke to him. I like him and his bandmates. Enjoyed the listen. But THEN, I played Nardia (most here should know, it has been a reference track, for years). I had it turned up to my favorite listening level, and I was floored, literally. My systems presentation took me to a time when I visited some small jazz clubs in NYC, and I was in heaven. So, as I constantly say here, it is only about the musicianship and the composition, well today, I felt proud to be an audiophile. SOUNDED GREAT!!!

Meanwhile, here in Vermont it is mid 40's - golf was cancelled by my buddies.  But I can play, windows closed, Mahler at an appropriate level, taking me back to Carnegie Hall.

The snow from Sunday has gone, the Maples are just getting their leaves, the Forsythia is out along with the beds of Daffodils.  And in July I'll be walking the golf course with 78 degree weather!

It is true that part of audiophilia is being reminded of the live music we have heard.

Life can be noisy. No, life IS noisy. But music, something that is just noise, has the power to calm down every other noise. It's simply beautiful.

Those moments where it all clicks are magical. Taking the time to put yourself in the frame of mind to get to those moments can be tricky. Good for you.

I’m in the Midwest where my heat and air conditioning have been used in the same day!
For the last few years, I’ve been listening to more and more Hard Bop Jazz and less and less rock.  I’ve been really enjoying the stereo recordings from fifties and sixties.  Some of these recordings have fabulous separation and depth.
You can’t go wrong with Patricia Barber.

For those into piano jazz, the new Verve release of Oscar Peterson at Baker's Keyboard Lounge is great.  Not so much focus on acrobatics, just solid swinging and solid tunes.  The sound is atmospheric, though a bit coarse, not really demo quality, but you get the sense of being in the club.
