Amps.. Is Odyssey worth it?

Is the Khartargo or the Stratos worth it??

Mine is working really well 1 + years.   No hum!     Very musical and open sound stage!

Klaus introduced a new 2 chassis stereo power amp at Axpona. Around 6500. He is really excited about it as he has been working on it for 5 years.
Sounded good in a quick demo.

My 1st real amp was a Stratos plus from 2000. It was plugged in and mostly turned on for 15+ years straight and sounded great even when I sold it. Great sounding amps IMO, nearly untouchable for the price if you want a great sounding high current 150 watt amp on the cheap-ish. Warm side of neutral but still plenty detailed and slamming bass. Never edgy.

I just found this thread and want to chime in. I am one of those "returning" Odyssey customers. I had a stereo Kismet in Khartago case a few years back and really enjoyed it. I compared it to an AVA SET120 which is considered a sound staging champ. I thought the Odyssey was at least the equal of the AVA but I didn't need that much power so I sold it. Fast forward to today and I have a pair of Magnepan 20.7Xs. I had some 225 watt mono blocks (I won't name the brand) and they nearly melted with the heat they generated driving the Maggies. I reached out to Klaus and he set me up with the latest version of the Kismet Monoblocks. The sound with the Maggies is all I could want, I really like that big soundstage, I don't need 1,000 watts as I am running the Maggies with 4 KEF KC92 subs crossed over at 80 hz. I can understand why many Maggie users drive them with Odyssey amps. They run cool and don't run out of steam. I am very happy with the Kismets but am going to trade them in for the new 2 chassis amps as soon as I move in June. One comment I will make about buying used and getting them updated. True, they can be available on the used market for a really good price. There are so many variations over the years that I thought it made sense to buy the latest and greatest from Klaus rather than getting something that might wind up costing as much or more to bring up to date. Just my opinion but it is always useful to speak to Klaus, the man!
