I have always enjoyed listening to the Spendor 2/3 at hifi shows. Just really, really nice sound.
Spendor Classic 100 - An itch I want to scratch!
I have an itch that just needs to be addressed. Over the last 20 years, I've yet to try a classic BBC monitor or its progeny. The Spendor Classic 100 seems like a winner. I have hears some smaller Spendor monitors at AXPONA and was impressed at the openness and effortless sound--especially in contrast to so many modern speakers that sound forced, phony.
These don't come up often in the used market. Looks like I'd be doing a sight unseen/unheard purchase from an online retailer like Acoustic Sounds or Upscale.
What can users tell me? All polite and reasonable opinions welcome!

Your profile shows that you have Cornwall IV speakers. A spendor and these BBC boxes will sound idiotic to a Cornwall guy....but, you already knew that well and good, didn't you? Some dealer paying you for some hype/cheer/marketing efforts?...(wink wink, you can tell me, I promise not to tell anyone)

OP Suggest trying it out first. If I were you, I will ask Upscale if they have a demo or if they are willing to have a month in home trial. Hey, if you have such a desire, then might as well go for it. I don't have Spendors, but I have BBC type speakers (Falcon) and ATC monitors. All I have purchased based on leap of faith (research), and all have its quirks. But after a Tweaks, I believe I got it dialed in.
Good luck |
@OP: You may find my comments regarding Spendor SP2/3R2 as compared to Harbeth M30.2 and then to Spendor Classic 100 interesting: |
@deep_333 , no I haven't had those speakers in years. Currently, in the room where I want to try Spendors I'm running Revival Audio Atalante 5s. |
