Finally a really good sounding LP pressing of Pet Sounds?

Pet Sounds has long been held in high regard musically, but not sonically (my 1966 mono LP sounds like a 3rd-generation copy made at 3-3/4ips) The video below is a 4-way discussion of the upcoming 1-Step LP that is claimed to change that situation.

@slaw:

Well Steve, the stereo mix was done by Brian, and one of his ears is pretty much non-functioning. I bought a copy only because I’m a completist, and the hype sticker on the shrink wrap reads "Limited edition". As Chad Kassem says, "Buy now or cry later." smiley

Here’s Norman Mazlov’s video from earlier today, in which he compares the test pressing of the 1-Step (Capitol Records sent him one) with the LP from the Carl And The Passions Twofer:

@bdp24

I’ve been watching Mazzy’s chanel more since I retired. I don’t buy records for any purpose but listening. I really enjoyed it!

Seems like I paid $20 new?

The latest declaration regarding the upcoming Capitol Records 1-Step pressing of Pet Sounds. I think it addresses all the questions about it and the 2-LP mono/stereo release:

Okay fellas, here’s a great video on the subject of ALL the pressings of Pet Sounds, done by a YouTube content maker new to me. He goes by the moniker of "Beach Boyman" (funny!), and I really like him. I also agree with his assessment of the sound quality of the versions of the album I’ve heard. Like him, my vote goes to the Analogue Productions 33-1/3 mono pressing.

For now, that is. I’m really hoping the upcoming 1-Step version provides a new level of sound quality to this admittedly mediocre sounding recording.
