Btw Jplay plays Alfie from What’s it all about on Qobuz by Pat Metheny. No hang up no skip.
Roon Issues - Not able to play certain tracks
I have been running into this issue when Roon is in the radio mode where spontaneously it runs into a track it can’t play. It just sits there trying to play it.
When I go to that album and attempt to manually play that same track on Qobuz the result is the same - it won’t play. Plays other tracks from the albums just fine.
If I go back to Roon radio and skip that track the next song is played no issues.
No such problems with Tidal.
I have rebooted the Roon Nucleus One, rebooted my network, rebooted my DAC.
Even signed out of streaming services and signed back in. No bueno. This is in addition to it being sluggish and requiring an almost daily reboot to maintain sound quality and proper operating speed. Now this…
Anyone else with this problem?

@acman3 Updated Ruin. Skipping songs it can’t play from Qobuz. by the way thanks for this music recommendation! At least something positive out of this snafu. |
@mclinnguy yep can’t play this song (Pat Metheny, Algie 24/96) on jplay as well from qobuz. But! Playing it from tidal on Roon and Jplay and the sound quality with jplay is superior. I can hear overtones and the metallic shimmer of the strings. Roon sounds syrupy and more rounded which makes it sound more like a processed, digital recording. Jplay has more of a raw feel that I like. It isn’t the first time I’ve observed this difference. |
Loving my Jplay! and got fed up with Qobuz and have been using Tidal for 2 days; not a single issue. Just tried Qobuz and Supertramp- Give a Little Bit 24/96 still does not play. As far as Roon maybe after April 20 it will be a little slimmer as far as processing goes, and the sound will improve? Check this out: |
@mclinnguy thanks for the link! well finally!
This means the code that’s currently running and cannibalizes memory is going to be fixed. I hope I am reading it right. This could possibly mean better sound quality. I’m hoping that I’m making the right assumption here. And Nucleus not impacted with the new hardware/firmware requirements. Alright! I can wait - my subscription runs out in May so if they fix it this month I might keep it. We’ll wait and see. And yes Tidal is solid - sound quality is amazing and most importantly it works!
