+1 @jsalerno277 I own the Vivid Giya G2s and love them. But I find them nicely warm and romantic vs my previous Hailey 2s. I thought the SF Amatis were dull sounding in comparison, but it was with McIntosh tube gear..
Vivid kaya 45 or Magico A3
I am looking for a new speaker to replace my 803d3’s. I don’t need the lowest frequencies in my 14 x 19 ft room. And i want a slightly quieter, more honest sound. So, what would be a good replacement?
Can someone tell me about differences in sound?
- vivid kaya 45
- Magico A3
My amps are: pass labs xp12, Bryston 14bsst2
cd: simaudio 650d, Bryston bcd3.
thanks in advance!

op another vote here for sonus fabers given your solid state amplification though i must mention the best sounding most beautiful and natural sounding dynamic speakers i have owned are upper proacs driven by audio research tube amps -- in case you might ever venture in that direction good luck on your quest |
@fastfreight I think you are right in identifying the root dull sound you heard from the SF Amati with the McIntosh electronics. Not a fan of the Mc house sound. I heard the Amati with all Audio Research Reference electronics and a DCS Vivaldi stack, and they were definitely not dull. I also agree the Vivid Giya series does have a warmth and what I term a sweet high end. The Amati was warmer, darker, and did not image as well to my ears. However, I believe there is a synergy between AR electronics and the Amati. In my opinion, the Amati is reference quality but with a different tonal presentation than the Giya series. No right or wrong, just different. I preferred the Vivid take on reality. Your G2s are even better than my G3s but alas their physical stature would have overwhelmed my small room and home. I see you drive them with Audionet separates. I heard the G1s driven that way at GTT Audio in their main room. Phenomenal. You’re a lucky man to have a such well designed room and system. |
Thanks for the kind words @jsalerno277 ! I am indeed fortunate. I get lost in my music.... If you are ever around Maryland or CAF give me a ring! Bill hs never steered me wrong. |
