Does Gryphon Diablo 300 Benefit With A Costly Mains Power Cable?

Can any Gryphon Diablo 300 owners share your experiences if there is a noticeable or significant improvement or difference when a costly mains power cable is used with the amp? Or it's only a minor difference?

I have tried some rather costly power cables such as Furutech DPS4.1/FI-50(R) NCF and Acrolink Mexcel and comparison revealed some minor differences. I'm thinking of trying a Shunyata Alpha-X NR. I would appreciate any experiences.

Hello @ryder , nice integrated.  In my experience, a good power cable will make a big improvement.

Having tried several Shunyata cables, I find them bright.  They sound dynamic and interssting at first, but fatigue then sets in.  My favorites are Kubala Sosna. Elation is great, Realization better, and Ovation out of this world.  Full, meaty, resolving but never too bright or fatiguing.  As many are upgrading to Realization or Ovation, both Elation and Realization can be found used or from GTT Audio taken in on trade.

On my Gryphon Diablo 333 integrated amp, the power cords made obvious differences. I cannot make specific recommendation based on your budget, but I believe an used AQ Dragon HC will be a good one, and maybe within your budget. But there are many fakes out there. If you can find an used or demo Stealth Dream PC that will be even better since I am not aware of fakes on the used market yet (I really like their Dream 20-20 power cable).

I appreciate all the responses. Good to know that the Diablo 333 benefits from a good power cord. AQ Dragon HC is >$10k MSRP and even used is above my budget, I think it's double the price of the Shunyata Sigma NR which is already rather costly. Let's see how it will go later.

ryder, this is just an idea. No one mentioned Purist Audio Dominus so I will.

Diablo 300 is a powerful very dynamic machine and you might want a 'monster' cable to match it. Don't know about newer Dominus but older ones were a little on the dark side, but so is Diablo 300. I don't think you want to brighten the sound with power cord, you want more transparency resolution and dynamics. Similar matches well to similar not to the opposite.

I do use older Dominus REV B Ferox with my tube VAC Avatar SE integrated, and it appears to be a perfect match.

Thanks, I’ll investigate all options. Anyway I just checked the total cost of cables which I still own, all types of cables including spares. Actual price paid and not MSRP, it’s all recorded in an Excel sheet. I’m shocked,. It’s $22.4k.

I will eventually add this final piece of (costly) wire before I call it a day. Perhaps I’ll start a thread in the Cable forum to see how much folks have spent on cables. I have surely overspent..crying
