@dayglow in my opinion a preamp particular determines the color of the sound. My Pass Labs preamp is on the warm (a bit like a tube amp) side, the Bryston is more neutral.
So I think a need a neutral speaker.
Vivid kaya 45 or Magico A3
I am looking for a new speaker to replace my 803d3’s. I don’t need the lowest frequencies in my 14 x 19 ft room. And i want a slightly quieter, more honest sound. So, what would be a good replacement?
Can someone tell me about differences in sound?
- vivid kaya 45
- Magico A3
My amps are: pass labs xp12, Bryston 14bsst2
cd: simaudio 650d, Bryston bcd3.
thanks in advance!

@audiogek Thx for taking time to reply. Have you considered mating Pass/Bryston might not be subjectively synergistic? It’s well known Bryston amplifiers have a very synergistic match with ARC preamps. A synergistic "band-aid" effect works less than many Audiophiles realize. |
I auditioned the Vivid Kaya 90 and the Magico A3. I was not impressed with the A3. The Vivid 90 was rather good but the aluminum drivers did not excite me. I then heard the Yamaha NS5000 and that was spectacular. The drivers on that are in my opinion the best in the world. It is also the only cone speaker where all 3 drivers are made from the same material. The tiny tweeter, mid-range, and the 12 inch woofer are all made with same material.. What that means is terrific coherence, especially compared to the A3.

It seems like you are looking for a speaker that has really good design with futuristic materials. If you watch this whole vidieo you will find a manufacture that is far above most. listen to the discussion of their turn table and image that same dedication to loud speakers.
