Finally a really good sounding LP pressing of Pet Sounds?

Pet Sounds has long been held in high regard musically, but not sonically (my 1966 mono LP sounds like a 3rd-generation copy made at 3-3/4ips) The video below is a 4-way discussion of the upcoming 1-Step LP that is claimed to change that situation.

I had the Analogue Productions pressing after reading glowing reviews. I never got the hype.

I’ve bought three copies of this album and was disappointed in them and ended up selling them. Hesitant to buy another copy.

Fremer himself gave the Analogue Productions mono a glowing review at the time of its release. In the panel discussion he now pans that pressing in rather extreme fashion, an exaggeration I suspect.

A good many people have long preferred the version that came with the Carl And The Passions album, which  was later released as a separate LP. As I said above, that version was made using the 1972 tape, as is the 1-Step.

Pet Sounds is also being released this year in a 2-LP version, one LP mono (analogue source) the other stereo (digital). Neither is cut from the 1972 tape.

Thanks for a confirmation Eric, I'm okay with my DCC mono for now. Look forward to a relisten tomorrow after a Degritter session.
