Do you buy gear new, used, both?

Both. Speakers I am happy to buy used if I can confirm their condition but happy to buy new if it's a good deal. Amps and receivers, I buy new or recently new because power doesn't like time and heat. Other gear like DACs and cables I'll buy either way.

for my “A” system, it’s all new for hi-end electronics and speakers,, but the hi-end cables loom were purchased pre-owned because of MSRP adverse resistance.

for my “”B” and “C” systems, it’s a hybrid too but a significantly more pre-owned share ,

Mostly used for me.  Generally, from TMR and other audio shops that stand by their preowned offerings.  Couple new or almost new pieces.

Due to available finances, I can only acquire components of a certain quality if I buy used. Luckily, there usually are a lot of options on the used market and I am always willing to wait for the right deal.

That being said, I do occasionally buy new, such as recently purchasing a Denafrips Iris DDC, but this is rare.
