Bluesound died - is Wiim a good alternative?

I have been using a BlueSound Vault as my streamer for many years, but it finally died, and my resuscitation attempts have failed. I want to replace it with another low-cost streamer, and the Wiim Pro looks like an interesting possibility for $150.

The rest of my system is:

- McCormack DNA-1, fully refurbished (gold, love it):

- Bel Canto 2.7 DAC, Which I also use as my pre;

- Usher Mini Dancer 2 speakers

I like the Bel Canto DAC pretty well, So I doubt the DAC in a Node 2i would be any better. Aside from that, is there any other reason to spend more for the Node?

cheeg

I own a Node 2 and a Wiim Ultra.  I can hear no major difference in the sound profiles when connected to the same amp and speakers.   I lean back to the Node because I prefer the Bluesound interface.

@curiousjim I agree the BS is a good unit, but I'm retired and funds are tight.  If I can get the same SQ with Wiim, why not?

@lanx0003 I just DM'd you - I got my red light problem fixed this weekend by replacing a few more caps (again), but it may not last long. It's nice to have sound again!

Sorry OP, the system is asking me to register a credit card before I can reply to your message. Instead, I’ll provide this Morse code, which you can decode using an online translator.  Or, AI can tell you what does it mean.

I use a WIIM Pro feeding a Weiss DAC 204.   The WIIM does the job and the app is better than BS IMHO.  Qobuz connect is flaky.  It was fine initially but the WIIM requires frequent rebooting. Using the WIIM app, it is very solid and does not require rebooting.
