How many 6.5in driver equals one 8in driver

If I am doing a simple math equation of a surface of a circle, pi * r^2, then:

8in. :  3.14 * 4 ^2 = 50.24 in^2

6.5in:  3.14 * 3.25^2 = 33.16 ^2

So it seems like it will take 2 6.5in drivers to equal an 8 in. driver.

Both speakers I have owned with two six inch woofers had excellent bass and power handling - DCM Time Windows and JBL 640's. Very satisfying bass!

I've heard lots of speakers with 6.5 inch woofers. They can generate the lower frequencies but they always sound small to me. 8 inch is the smallest woofer size that sounds convincing. And both need a sub of 12 or more to move air below 40hz.

I’m using an 8” “sub” in a secondary system. It’s more of a low frequency driver. Makes reasonable thump but a real subwoofer has to be 10 or 12 inches minimum.
