Here’s a used Dragonfly Red for only 68 bucks. I use one in my portable headphone setup and it works well — big improvement over using my iPhone, but it is limited to 24/96 if that’s a concern. Should be fine for your application I’d think. Best of luck.
DAC Recommendations for My Truck
I drive a 2015 F150 King Ranch with Sync 2. I want to stream Amazon Music HD Unlimited Hi Res from my iPhone into my media hub which is a 3.5mm. I have ordered the Lightning Camera adapter that allows hi res digital out of the phone and into a DAC via USB A (camera adapter). Any suggestions for a Dongle DAC? I want to stay in the $100 range for the first purchase so i can determine if it is worth investing more in the DAC.

Thanks for the recommendation. I followed the link you provided and then did a search and found this on Audiogon - https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lisbhea8-audioquest-dragonfly-red-dac-preamp-headphone-amp-180-off-da-converters?show_listing=true |
@maam522a , thanks for posting. I have a ‘23 Ford F-150 Powerboost with the factory upgrade system. Although it doesn’t match the factory Bose labeled in my former Denali Duramax or my Bose equipped Yukon, it’s not too bad. I currently stream his res Tidal and Qbuz from my iPhone with an Audioquest Carbon USB. Now you’ve got me thinking of trying to add something to the chain. Would you please @ me when you reach your goal, as I’m interested in an improvement at a reasonable cost. I realize with your style cable and what you’re seeking it’s apples to oranges, but one never knows. Thanks, Mike B. |
I have an older iPhone with Lightning connection and an older F150 with Sync 2 so my chain will be an Apple Lightning to Camera adapter that the Dragonfly will plug into and then a 3.5mm connection from Dragonfly to Aux input in my trucks media hub. If you have a newer iPhone and Sync system then those two connectors at each end will be different. The camera adapter was required for the iPhone to pass through the hi res digital signal to the Dragonfly. Without that adaptor the iPhone digital stream is capped at a lower speed. I believe the newer Sync systems do not have a 3.5mm like the 2. |
