Seeking CD Player with Digital Inputs

I have a friend who I'm helping to put together his first reasonable stereo.  He needs a source.  We were thinking that he could get a lot out of a CD player with digital inputs - one could be used for his TV (optical) and one for a streamer (coax).  Does such a thing exist?  Or would it be better to look for a DAC with three digital inputs (CD, streamer, TV).  Thanks in advance for any ideas.

At that budget I would be looking for used.

Another option would be to get an Optical computer peripheral.  These are usually used to rip CDs but can also play them.  Assuming he has a laptop he can attach the peripheral, then use one of those small usb DACs which then outputs into the amp

At that price range, any CD player is probably not going to be worth fixing when it breaks.  Being mechanical as well, it's also likely to fail earlier than purely electrical components.  I'd probably play the craigslist/local thrift store/friend's closet lottery for that piece.  They should check to see if it has digital inputs/outputs and what kind of connectors are required.

Your choice of dacs will likely be heavily influenced by what digital inputs are required to hook everything up.  You can get the Schiit Modi 5 dac with coax, toslink, and usb digital inputs for $161 on their website - designed and built in the USA.
