Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

Keep me posted & Happy Listening!

All -

over on U.S. Audiomart there is a Thiel Smart Sub (SS4) up for grabs. Located in the New York state area. I hope this Beast finds the next good home.

Happy Listening!

oxfordamps,

Please excuse me for the late response.

Its race season and I've have been swamped with work so I have not had time to solder in the various notch filters Tom sent. I like to learn and enjoy when I take on projects so I have my head in the race. .

Speaking to a fellow CS 7.2 owner,  I have to mention I've had a few speakers at the shop recently and I will say the CS 7.2 will remasin in the stable.

When ig316b stopped by for a few days we had the CS 2.4SE with the SS-2 in dual mono. It gets close to the CS 7.2 and the upgrade path is easier and cheaper so it could close the gap unless more is spent on the CS 7.2 upgrades as there is more to do.

After that session I may seek out a pair of Thiel subs in black to compliment my Porcshe Silver pair of CS2.4.

I know ig316b is having fun with them.

I do have a question for owners of Thiel speakers.

I've been a Solid sate man my whole like as I liked the dynamics and speed it delivered which was closer to live music, for me as others may have a different experience, than tubes.

Its been 3 years or so  now that I tried  experimenting with tubed line stages .

I have tried many Solid state and tube preamps.

After countless listening hours I've settled on a 300B Preamp.

This produced the best results and the choices of tubes in the 300b family you can dial it in to your personal ttaste preference.

My long winded question is,  have others found this tto be their preference as well?

Tube preamp that is , not specifically a 300b

My first really audiophile speakers were Thiel CS 3.6s. Loved those speakers. I gifted them to a friend a few years ago and they are still making amazing sound.
