Lawrence Audio speakers?

Anyone else using Lawrence Audio speakers? I have the Mandolin and also the Violin SE. I really enjoy them both. I don't know if the brand is even still around any more, just wondering if there are any other users on this forum.

I ran the violin se for a couple years.I actually loved them, just moved on because of the audio itch.

If you find one for sale locally, jump on it! They seem hard to find now and the sound is a beautiful as the appearance. I used the Violin SE in my main setup for a while, intended to try Cello or Double Bass but took a detour into the Vivid B1 and later the Duevel Jupiter that I currently use. I guess I like unconventional speakers.

I sold the Vivid but kept the Violin SE for another room, and even picked up some smaller Mandolins as well for a different setup.

Im curious about these... the appearance suggests they should be used for classical.  The "ribbon" style AMT tweeter and midrange.... I mean, has anybody been rocking RUSH on these?

Big, complex modern jazz, or semi-loud classic rock?   I'm wondering if they would hold up to louder selections.

@hukkfinn The appearance does make it feel that way, but I think they are well rounded enough for any genre you throw at them. The Violin series has the 8 inch driver which has excellent impact and definition, as long as your room is not huge you can get by comfortably without a sub. They are quite dynamic and satisfying with bands like Tool, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree.

The smaller Mandolin is obviously more limited due to the 6.5 inch driver, still kicks about as hard as any small/medium monitor style design I've heard.

@hukkfinn -- your post is an excellent illustration of how the visual appearance of a product affects our expectations of sound quality. However at 88 dB sensitivity I'd still expect a true headbanger looking for live rock concert sound levels to go for something more efficient.
