Always interested in the Double Bass. Looks amazing! And I would assume sounds amazing.

If you find one for sale locally, jump on it! They seem hard to find now and the sound is a beautiful as the appearance. I used the Violin SE in my main setup for a while, intended to try Cello or Double Bass but took a detour into the Vivid B1 and later the Duevel Jupiter that I currently use. I guess I like unconventional speakers. I sold the Vivid but kept the Violin SE for another room, and even picked up some smaller Mandolins as well for a different setup. |
@hukkfinn The appearance does make it feel that way, but I think they are well rounded enough for any genre you throw at them. The Violin series has the 8 inch driver which has excellent impact and definition, as long as your room is not huge you can get by comfortably without a sub. They are quite dynamic and satisfying with bands like Tool, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree. The smaller Mandolin is obviously more limited due to the 6.5 inch driver, still kicks about as hard as any small/medium monitor style design I've heard. |
