JBL L100 Classic speaker posts

Some banana type plugs do not go into the posts all the way. The way you have it is fine. Loosen the post plug the banana in then tighten the post!

On my JBL L100 Classic speakers, my banana plugs go all the way down and fit very snug and even on the posts. 

Really? they seem like they should... pretty sure my cables are audio quest.

Banana plugs often do not sit flush 

because of variations in manufacturing tolerances, shallow binding posts, or protective plastic inserts. It is normal for them to stick out slightly; as long as the connection is snug and secure, the audio quality will not be affected.
Alternative Solution: If the plug is too long, you can sometimes unscrew the binding post nut and insert the banana plug into the side hole intended for bare wire.
