New Audiophile?

Last night, my 15 year-old daughter was "surprised" to discover that Tate Mcrae sounds better on my stereo than her iPhone.

We'll see what becomes of this.

It can start for them with a simple receiver and a small pair of speakers.  A simple cable from the iPhone to RCA jacks plugged into Aux jack on the receiver.

A nice gentlemen came by for his son’s birthday and bought an older Marantz 2230 receiver and custom 2-way speakers I rebuilt with Scanspeak drivers in it.

LOL, he liked it so much during the purchase demo that he started teasing he’d give his system to his son and keep this one for himself. He called later on to share his son "loves it".  Something to plug the iPhone "in to" seems to be key, fwiw. :)

I replaced that older Marantz in the garage with a new Yamaha 2-channel receiver, while not as midrange smooth, paired with some softer speakers works great too.

I found a practically new Marantz receiver on craigslist for $20. Thinking it might be stolen, the fears were dropped when he showed up in a new Subaru and a Patagonia jacket. I gave it to my sister as a housewarming gift 🎁. if you look on my profile, you will see that she now has a pretty nice rocking system for a non-audiophile. As we all do, she enjoys the compliments she gets.

Great story, keep up the good work!  Two of my son’s friends used to come over to the house after school to listen.  They had full access to my system.  Both are Hart School of Music grads.  One is now a working musician in Nashville and the other owns a studio in Boston.  My son still is in close contact with these friends and has a nice system of his own.  15 years old is a good age to start.  All good stuff.

My 38 year old daughter and I recently bonded over Chris Isaak from around 30 years ago.
