Console or other surface for amplifier and turntable

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for sturdy and appealing consoles or racks for amps and turntables. A lot of the custom stuff I've seen includes storage for vinyl, the problem being that either it's nowhere near enough storage, or it's so much that the whole thing becomes ludicrous. Ideally I'd just have something solid but not too obtrusive to place in a central spot with the speakers placed in front toward either side. I can store my LPs elsewhere. Any advice much appreciated...

For a while I was building individual stands for amps over preamps, that kind of use

I checked discarded furniture, along the side of the road, or thrift stores, just to see if the top was solid hardwood. Keep a heavy hammer in the car: if it won’t fit in your car easily, beat the bottom to pieces and take the hardwood top home.

For my stands, even drawer fronts were big enough for the side pieces.

My woodworker would plane it and I would take it from there. Mahogany, Walnut, I don’t care much for Oak, but there is a lot of it around.

i.e. you might find a decent size piece of furniture in a thrift store with a quality top, then build whatever under it.

These Grand Prix and Tough Nut racks are functional and tasteful IMHO and should perform well sonically as well.  Best of luck in your search.
