Used Klipschorns, what to look for

Hello, I am planning on looking at a sequential pair for sale near me.  The rear looks a bit funny (the rubber looking strips.). Also, are the side grills upside down?

Anything else that you guys can point at to check out in person would be helpful.  I would likely only get these if it was a very good deal, as I'd plan on budgeting for some restoration.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Terrible site. 3 times brought up spam, no pictures. Finally saw pics on 4th try.  Speakers look quite “used”, do not look like they were well taken care of.  Verify everything twice before buying.

If a pair is beat just get a new bass driver (not expensive) and use a Beyma driver/horn setup instead of the Klipsch stuff. Shinjitsu sells one, or just get some cool wood horns someplace. Mo bettah.

Something is very wrong with your link. The suggested Volti crossover certainly shouldn't be costing anywhere close to 4500!? No freaking way...

A simple sublime acoustics analog active crossover  for around $600 will beat any passive crossover upgrade for the old klipsch, breathe magic into it. These things are tailor made for active crossovers, which is why the main klipsch engineer is introducing active crossovers for most of the new heritage klipsch models.

My nephew is running active crossovers with his old klipsch, it is quite jawdropping, the difference from active vs passive.

You can search some other forums on how to brace the cabinet further, prep it better.

Good luck

Thank you guys for the insight. deep_333, can you not see the pics from the link?

Thank again guys.  Sorry the link is not great.

This is all great advice as far as restoration and refurbishment, should I end up buying them.   I could really use some insight on what to look for before I decide to purchase though.   For example, checking out anything that is known to be physically worn out, etc.  Basically, anything I might discover that will add to the cost of me getting things right on my own in the future.

The asking price is in the 3k range which I believe is high for the speakers in this condition.  Even if they sound great, aesthetically I would rank these about a 6 out of 10.

I've attached a link with a couple more pics.   Sorry if the link doesn't;t work well for you guys.  It works very well on my end so I'm not sure how to go about making it a better link for the public.   I'm admittedly fairly new to picture hosting.
