STREAMER - WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?
I've been using the Eversolo DMP-A8 and think it's a mid-range, feature-rich, capable, and attractive machine. For the past few months, my focus has been on putting my system together (e.g., new caps on the amps, new tubes, getting clean power, turntable, phono stage, etc) and have felt that I've been overly focused on the analog side. I've long wanted to work on getting my end game digital setup and pulled the trigger on a BAT Rex 3 DAC and now want a streamer that mates well with it. I know little about streamers. . .just enough to get lost in the topic.
Other than an easy-to-read screen and balanced outputs, what features should I look for in an endgame streamer that will deliver a significant performance boost? I invite any suggestions.
Yet another unrelated deflection to try to distract from his initial ridiculous and indefensible statement that a $2k streamer offers SOTA performance. Fortunately it seems the OP is wise enough to not pair a $2k streamer with his excellent DAC as that’s the most important thing here. |
I’ve got a great sense of humor, but there’s nothing funny about recommending a $2k streamer to someone with a $20k DAC — it’s tragic and sad, and no one here save you would even consider such a thing. If you wanna do something insane like that fine, but I’ll be damned if I’ll sit idly by while you try to pervert someone else into making that mistake. I find nothing funny in that whatsoever. |
Look, we’ve disagreed about this for about 2 years. I provide science, analysis, measurements, other users’ experience, and my own 20 years of streaming experience as support for my views.
