The suggestions in this thread are wild, imo. No woman on the planet is going to approve anything made by Tekton, and the Pure Audio Project and other open baffles need a lot of room to breathe, this is a living area where it’s doubtful they are going to want speakers 3-5ft from the front wall.
A suggestion for OP is go to a dealer vs random subjective opinions. Identify a budget, ideal placement, and if aesthetics are important. Wife friendly, and vocal leaning speakers tend to be Sonus Fabers, Franco Serblin, QLN, Harbeth, and also if they are mixed media speakers, something with a concentric driver may be effective without a center channel (KEF is classier looking, Mofi are good speakers but maybe a little ugly). Anything by Klipsch won’t have the bass you’re looking for, but perhaps a Revival Audio, Wharfedale Dovedale, or any Devore would do nicely with a room friendly, furniture grade appeal. Personally I’d go with Sonus Faber Olympica Nova (budget dependent) for warmth, or maybe a KEF for a neutral option. They sound good with most genres, have good extension, and aren’t too picky with amplification.
Good luck!
