Speaker Help Please: Floorstanders around $1Ok to fill very large space with no sub

Hi Gang, haven’t posted in here in years...
A great friend of mine is going through major remodel and looking for 2 large floor standing speakers to fill a great room 38’ long x 20’ wide with a celling that slopes in one direction from 15’-8’. so about 7200 cubic feet.
He is very serious about music. Used to book bands. He listens to a lot of New Orleans groove-based music and Americana. His wife loves female singers, like Brandi Carlisle.
My main advise to him is, since he/his wife don’t want a sub, they will need speakers with sufficient low end.
Haven’t thought too much about amp yet.

He will also use the system for 2 channel home theater watching.
Thanks for any suggestions

I whole heartedly agree with fastfreight. You won’t go wrong with the Revel Ultima  Salon2. However you will need a high current powerful amp to fully appreciate them.

As winoguy17 suggests : Legacy Focus SE. I have the Sig SE and love them with 4 10" woofs. Focus SE has 4 x 12" woofs. no sub needed at all. of course the amp makes a difference. mine sounded very good with Para sound A21. now have Pass 250.8 and I'm done.

Call Erik the owner and designer of Tekton design speakers , He can maximize your friend need. Believe me he is good at it.

The suggestions in this thread are wild, imo. No woman on the planet is going to approve anything made by Tekton, and the Pure Audio Project and other open baffles need a lot of room to breathe, this is a living area where it’s doubtful they are going to want speakers 3-5ft from the front wall.

A suggestion for OP is go to a dealer vs random subjective opinions. Identify a budget, ideal placement, and if aesthetics are important. Wife friendly, and vocal leaning speakers tend to be Sonus Fabers, Franco Serblin, QLN, Harbeth, and also if they are mixed media speakers, something with a concentric driver may be effective without a center channel (KEF is classier looking, Mofi are good speakers but maybe a little ugly). Anything by Klipsch won’t have the bass you’re looking for, but perhaps a Revival Audio, Wharfedale Dovedale, or any Devore would do nicely with a room friendly, furniture grade appeal. Personally I’d go with Sonus Faber Olympica Nova (budget dependent) for warmth, or maybe a KEF for a neutral option. They sound good with most genres, have good extension, and aren’t too picky with amplification.

Good luck!
