darTZeel LHC-208 MK II vs MKl

Find a listings here on A’gon for MKll, but darTZeel website shows only MKl.  How does one discern?  Thanks for any enlightenment to include impressions.

It sounds like the only clear cut way is to get the serial number and ask darTZeel. The units are not marked and refinement are internal and subtle.

The website probably not up to date. I had my LHC-206 upgraded to mkII version in June of 2023, when the upgrade first became available. At that time, Herve offered the following description:

  • New streamer/DAC platform, with enhanced sonic performances and Roon ready capabilities
  • Line level RCA and BNC outputs
  • Much better sound globally (both digital and analog) thanks to significant RFI noise reduction in the housing

Cost at that time was approx $3,200, excluding freight to and from the US and Switzerland. Since I use a separate streamer and DAC (Innuos Zenith MK3/Aqua Formula mkII) and don't use RCA or BNC, the only benefit to me was in the sound improvements, which were subtle. The sound before and after MKII is the most organic sound I've ever heard on any integrated. It's a forever amp for me.

Thanks for input.  Could never 100% establish upgrade.  Paperwork shown by previous owner to dealer, forwarded to me and then Herve in Geneva.  He said it was not enough for him to assure me of a MKll upgrade.  I passed.

Maybe I missed out.  I can wait for the next bus…. with proper documentation.
