I'm going to Japan this year as well. I will be looking at tonearms, cartridges, and possibly cables but nothing that would require power conversion. I have had bad past experience with European equipment converted to US voltage. On the other hand I did once use a 100V Japanese tube amp with a Variac and it worked well, but that was not an expensive amp, and it was hard to resell. Accuphase products are expensive even in Japan...way too risky even if it were set up for 120V in Japan, it would still be a gray market import here in the US.
Going to Japan and buy from Japan
Wife is planning a family trip with kids to Japan in 2027. How and where to buy a new or used Accuphase gear and bring / ship back to US?
i probably need a way to communicate to arrange with a store there in Japan prior?
if you know a place in Japan that can convert voltage to US, please also share.

Check eBay seller AC GEAR JAPAN. A few years ago I bought an amp and other gear from them. The shipping is included in the price. They are excellent to deal with. Tomo is one of the head of the store. They can also provide you with the conversion service if preferred that way. Back them, I received the amp 4 days after I placed my order. Everything was so smooth. Yes, today things are a little different than 2 years ago with importing goods and tariff. But something to consider. Good luck. BTW also if you need to repair your unit, they will take care of that. Probably you will have to pay for the shipping. Not sure about that. |
I purchased an Accuphase amp from a jp dealer on EBay. The voltage conversion was done by the dealer. The amp is built like a tank. I paid less for it than my Hegel 390. Had I purchased it state side it would have cost what my Pass 250 cost. If I only get 6 years out of it and it dies, I could care less. Since it’s not my main amp and I rotate 8 different amps I believe it will out live me. |
nasaman, you may check your dream amp options below. finding unit in JP and traveling w/ heavy piece isn’t fun! https://audiocubes.com/pages/faqs-information |
